PackagesThe Juicy Mango Package
The price of all this fun is only $2,195.00* If you're like us, you prefer more comfort on long flights than is normally available in Coach. Currently, two trans-pacific carriers, THAI Airways and EVA Air, offer a third class of seating to Southeast Asia. This class is positioned between Coach and Business Class, and is called Premium Economy or Elite Class, respectively. Both offer more legroom than Coach, wider seats, upgraded entertainment systems, a separate area of the cabin and earlier boarding. The price premium for this class normally runs between $300 and $400 above Coach. Most clients find this to be a very reasonable price for the added comfort, and they report feeling less exhausted after long flights. Both Coach and Premium Economy, on both carriers, offer a choice of meals, free beverages (including wine, beer and liquor), and a Video on Demand system. THAI offers laptop power receptacles in both classes, EVA only in Elite Class. On THAI, the Coach seat width/pitch is 17.4"/36", and the Premium Economy width/pitch is 19"/42". On EVA, the Coach seat width/pitch is 17"/33", and the Elite Class width/pitch is 18"/38". EVA's Coach seating arrangement is 3-3-3, and Elite Class is 2-4-2. THAI's Coach seating arrangement is 2-4-2, and Premium Economy is 2-3-2. We prefer THAI Airways for our groups, as they offer the only LAX to BKK non-stop flights. We realize that it's a long flight, but feedback shows that most people prefer to avoid the hassles of connecting flights in strange airports, multi-hour layovers, delayed connections, and other potential problems. EVA Air is a good alternative should circumstances dictate. They are often a bit less expensive than THAI. Some people like the idea of a two-to-three hour "flight break" during their layover in Taipei. However, EVA's flights tend to sell out quickly, and they raise their prices as the plane fills up. If you prefer another carrier, we will certainly strive to accommodate you. A lot depends on that carrier's schedule, arrival times at BKK, etc. Many carriers depart LAX and arrive BKK at very odd hours. A representative may not be available to meet you at either end. In all cases, we will provide you with the departure date and time, and the arrival date and time. You are free to book your airfare directly with the carrier, or we will put you in touch with the California branch of the travel agency who handles our group airfare bookings. You can save a few dollars by using the travel agency. Please note that our ground representatives' availability is geared around the THAI Airways flight schedule. A representative will be available at LAX three hours before THAI's scheduled departure (so, currently, that means from 8:00pm to 11:00pm). EVA departs at 1:50am, and a representative may not be available. At the BKK end we will provide two pickups, one at 7:00am for the THAI arrivals, and another at noon for the EVA arrivals. Should you choose a different carrier, you will need to coordinate your arrival/departure accordingly. Also, please note that the tours depart LAX on a Thursday evening and arrive in Bangkok on Saturday morning. They depart Bangkok on a Saturday afternoon and arrive at LAX on Saturday evening, the same day. |
